CVAN Presentation Guide
You have been invited to make a presentation to CV Angel Network to attempt to raise angel capital for your business. How do you maximize your chances of making a successful presentation? First, a few "Do's" and "Don'ts":
Do's
-
Be enthusiastic in your presentation--if you're not excited about your business a potential investor won't be either.
-
Put more information in your presentation slides than you will be able to present. The audience can read faster than you can present, but do not "clutter" your slides with too much information.
-
Be specific in your presentation, focusing on what makes your company unique--and potentially successful.
-
Practice your presentation--and be sure to stay within your allocated time frame.
-
Anticipate questions, and keep your answers succinct and directed to the question. Consider having additional presentation slides to use in answering these anticipated questions.
-
Conclude with the key reasons why your company will be successful
Don'ts
-
Don't use technical jargon in presenting your product or service--present information so that everyone can understand it
-
Don't present information as "facts" that are only hypotheses or guesses--credibility is key to successfully gaining investor backing
-
Don't overwhelm your presentation with data--present only the key data needed to support your major findings and conclusions
-
Don't be afraid to say "I don't know" to a question--and then promise to find out the answer for the questioner
